19 AAH players attended the 2002 Texas Scholastic Chess Championships at the Corpus Christi Convention Center, held from March 15-17. (This was the largest State Scholastic in history, with over 1400 players--four hotels were required to house all the players and their families!) The beach and the fine weather made for an enjoyable weekend for many. While in many sections we did not have enough players for a full team, we also won a few team trophies!
- In the five-round Kindergarten section (played only on Saturday), our team, made up of Sophia Dever (3 points out of 5), Crystal Odom (1/5), and Centaine Potts (0.5/5), placed fifth in the state! There were no official team awards, because the section was so small--the winning team had just 3 players.
- AAH's Alex Odom medaled in Primary (K-3) Junior Varsity with 4/7. Medals went to all players with positive scores (4 out of 7 or better) who did not win trophies.
- Ex-AAHer Alex Balkum took the 22nd place trophy (he actually tied for 20th) in the Primary Championship section with 4.5/7.
- In the Elementary Championship section, we had two AAH representatives: Jonathan Morgan, who medaled with 4.5/7, and Carson Green (3/7). Jonathan and Carson's team score of 7.5 was also enough for an 18th place team trophy! (The top 4 players count for teams, so Jonathan and Carson were at a big disadvantage as a 2-player team.)
- In the Elementary J.V. section, we had a full team of 4 players: Kevin Stager (who medaled with 4/7), Nathan Halaney (3/7), Sterling Potts (2/7), and Kayla Odom (3/7). Our team fell just short of a trophy, as their team score of 11 points placed them 23rd in the state and team trophies only went down to 20th, but Kayla did win a brilliancy prize!
- In the Middle School Junior Varsity section, AAH had its biggest contingent of the tournament: David Halaney (3/5), Onyeuwa Fry (3/5), Jayda Odom (2.5/7), Sam Toups (2.5/7), and Salem Coogler (2/7). Their team won the 17th place trophy with a team score of 11.5, and Jayda won the brilliancy prize.
- In the Middle School Championship section, Geeta Persad medaled with 5 points out of 7. She actually tied for 13th, but her tiebreaks put her in 27th place, just out of the trophies.
- The High School Junior Varsity team, consisting of Jesse Bertron and Anthony Toups, placed 23rd. Jesse medaled with 4/7, while Anthony scored 1.5/7.
- In the High School Championship section, Govind Persad represented AAH. He tied for 7th place in his section with 5/7, taking the 18th place trophy on tiebreaks.
Brenda and Doug Hardesty and Tara Persad volunteered as TDs and tournament assistants. Our players had fun hanging out in the AAH team room in the Convention center between rounds, doing game analysis with club coach Danny Hardesty, eating, and playing chess and various other games. Check out the complete standings on the website of
the Optimist Coastal Bend Chess Federation.
On Feb. 2, Foster Elementary in San Antonio sponsored the Region 6 Championships [official results]. There were over 150 players from Austin, San Antonio, Gonzales, and other central Texas towns. Four AAH students participated--fewer than we've had at past regionals.
We had two players in the Middle School section, and one each in the High School and Elementary sections. In Middle School, Geeta Persad won fourth place with four out of five, while Tim Tennant medaled with three out of five. In the High School section, Govind Persad repeated as regional high school champion with 3.5/4. Finally, in Elementary, Jonathan Morgan scored a solid 3/5, but had to miss the sixth round--otherwise he might have medaled as well.
Thanks to Foster Elementary and all the volunteers in San Antonio for running this tournament!
- In the Primary section, AAH was represented by Alexander Balkum, Alex Odom, Sianne Smith, and Sophia Dever. Our team took the first place trophy, while Alex Balkum took the first place trophy after coming out ahead on the fourth(!) tiebreak, and Alex Odom and Sianne medaled.
- In Elementary, we had Asher Mason, James Tadlock, Kevin Stager, Onyeuwa Fry, and Kayla Odom, who took home the third place award. Asher, James, and Kevin also medaled.
- In Middle School, Geeta Persad, Sam Tadlock, Jonathan Morgan, Tim Tennant, Jayda Odom, and Taylor White captured the first place trophy. Geeta won the section on tiebreaks, while Sam medaled. (Special mention to Jonathan, who decided to play up a section!)
- In High School, Jesse Bertron, Dorothy Tadlock, Robbie Mattingly, Sarah Jehlen, and Daniel Orr were the first place (and only!) team in their section.
Thanks to Gonzales Elementary for hosting--the site was excellent--and to all the volunteers who helped with the tournament.
- In the Primary section, AAH was represented by Sianne Smith, Sterling and Centaine Potts, David Reyes, Tim Mire, Sophia Dever, Madeleine and Jack Sullivan, Alex Odom, and Shea Barton. Our team took the first place trophy, Sianne tied for second place individual, and Sterling medaled.
- In Elementary, we had Jonathan Morgan, Onyeuwa Fry, Joseph Jehlen, Sam Toups, and Kayla Odom, who took home the third place award. Jonathan tied for fourth, while Onyeuwa medaled.
- In Middle School, Tim Tennant and Jayda Odom were our only players. They both medaled.
- In High School, Stephen Logsdon, Sara Jehlen, and David Alston were the third place team in their section.
John, Madeleine, and Jack Sullivan also played as a Parent/Child team, finishing with a score of 3.5. Kudos to John for his bravery!
Thanks to Danforth Middle School, and to all the volunteers who helped with the tournament.
Eighteen AAH kids attended the 2001 Texas Scholastic Chess Championships at the Wyndham Greenspoint in Houston! Everyone had a fun weekend, and several of our teams won team trophies. (It takes 4 players for a full team, and in many sections we did not have enough players for a full team.)
- This year, the organizers added a new Kindergarten section. Our team, consisting of Sheila Robinson and Bailey Robinson-Forman, placed second in the state! There were no team awards, because the section was so small--the winning team had just 3 players.
- Baxter Robinson-Forman, Sterling Potts, Carson Green, and Alex Balkum were our representatives in the Primary (K-3) Junior Varsity section. Alex tied for 15th place with 5 points out of a possible 7, while both Carson and Sterling scored 4.5/7 and received medals for a positive score, which was 4 or more points in a 7-round section. Their team tied for 11th place in the section.
- In the Elementary JV section, we had three students representing AAH: James Tadlock, Adrian Robinson, and Jonathan Morgan. The team tied for 20th, with Jonathan tying for 4th in the section with 6/7 (his only loss was to the section winner on Board 1 in the final round!), and Adrian medaling with 4/7.
- In the Elementary Championship section, A.J. Audain was our only player. He scored 3 points out of 7 in this difficult section.
- In the Middle School Junior Varsity section, AAH was represented by Bair Robinson-Forman, Samuel Tadlock, and Forrest Green. Their team won 19th place, with Forrest tying for 8th place with 5.5/7 and Sam medaling with 4/7. Kirkland Audain (ex-AAH player who now attends
Murchison Middle School) also medaled with 4.5/7.
- In the Middle School Championship section,
our lone representative, Geeta Persad, medaled with 4 points out of 7.
- The High School Junior Varsity team, consisting of Jesse Bertron and Evelyn and Dorothy Tadlock, placed 13th, with Evelyn tying for 8th with 5/7 and Jesse medaling with 4/7 (Jesse was half a tiebreak point short of a trophy!).
- In the High School Championship section, Govind Persad was the AAH representative. He tied for 12th with 5/7, and would like to extend his apologies to the lone player with 5/7 who did not get a trophy, Michael Sneed of WACHE, who finished 26th on tiebreaks. It sounds very odd when you talk about yourself in the third person.
While the tournament was marred by some severe misbehavior (hopefully not caused by any of our kids...), the kids had fun hanging out in the AAH team rooms between rounds, doing game analysis, eating junk food, and playing chess, bughouse, "Gary chess", loser's chess, and various other games. Check out the complete standings on the website of
the Dallas Chess Club.
On Feb. 17, the AAH club sponsored the Region 6 Championships [standings and crosstables are available]. There were over 200 players from Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos, Gonzales, and other central Texas towns. Forty-three AAH students participated. Danny and Doug Hardesty and John Sullivan worked as Tournament Directors on the playing floor, while Brenda Hardesty and Tara Persad worked in the computer room tracking pairings and results. Many AAH families, both parents and kids, helped with set-up, clean-up, registration, and every other job you can imagine. (Thanks, everyone!) [Thanks also to the Pepperidge Farm Company for donating a bag of their excellent Chessmen cookies for each player in the tournament! -GP]
The High School team won 1st Place, making this their second year as regional champions! The team included Jesse Bertron, Bair Carlson, Stephen Logsdon, Govind Persad, Dorothy Tadlock, Evelyn Tadlock, and Matt Tennant. Govind decimated his competition, winning 1st place individual with 4.5 points out of 5.0 in the toughest section of the tournament. Jesse and Matt took 7th and 8th place, while Bair and Dorothy tied for 9th place.
In their section with eight school teams, and over 40 players, the AAH Middle School team won 1st place! The team members were Ryan Fleisch, Caryn Gay, Forrest Green, Chelsea Manasseri, Jayda Odom, Daniel Orr, Geeta Persad, Bair Robinson-Forman, Adrian Robinson, Alex Schwendner, Samuel Tadlock, and Tim Tennant. Alex won 2nd place individual with 4.5 out of 5.0 points. Geeta and Tim tied for 3rd place with 4.0 of 5. Ryan, Forrest, Daniel, and Adrian tied for 9th place with 3 points out of 5.
The AAH Elementary team tied for 1st place with a San Antonio team, Foster Elementary, since both teams scored exactly the same number of points. The huge Elementary Section had 14 teams competing, with 80 players in all! AAH players included A.J. Audain, Onyeuwa Fry, Brittany Gay, Tony Hart, Ashley James, Meghan James, Steven King, Ethan Loggins, Jonathan Morgan, Erin Murchison, Kayla Odom, Zachary Shipp, and James Tadlock. (Wow! What an increase in team size we've had since last year's regional tournament, when we had only two AAH players in Elementary!) Individual trophies went to Jonathan, A.J., and James, who all tied for 3rd place with 4.0 points out of 5.0! Ashley, Brittany, Steven, and Meghan won medals for scoring 3.0 or better.
The AAH Primary team had 11 players. In their section with 14 teams and over 60 players, they won 2nd place! Team members included Alexander Balkum, Carson Green, Tim Mire, Alex Odom, Sterling Potts, Bailey Robinson-Forman, Baxter Robinson-Forman, Sheila Robinson, Sianne Smith, Kevin Stager, and Madeleine Sullivan. Carson was in 3rd place with 4.0 points out of 5.0, while Baxter, Kevin, Tim, and Alexander won medals for scoring at least 3.0 points. Madeleine won the Good Sportsmanship trophy, because two different Tournament Directors noticed how kind she was to an opponent, and how cooperative she was when the staff was trying to straighten out the confusion after another player accidentally played in her place. (report by Brenda Hardesty)
- In the Primary section, AAH was represented by Alexander Balkum, Carson Green, Tim Mire, Sterling Potts, Baxter Robinson-Forman, Sianne Smith, Kevin Stager, and Madeleine Sullivan. They won second place.
- In Elementary, we had A.J. Audain, Ryan Fleisch, Brittany and Caryn Gay, Ashley and Meghan James, Joseph Jehlen, Asher Mason, Jonathan Morgan, Erin Murchison, Mikey Orf, Adrian Robinson, Zach Shipp, and James and Sam Tadlock, who took home the first place award.
- In Middle School, Forrest Green, Sara Jehlen, Chelsea Manasseri, Stephanie Mire, Geeta Persad, Bair Robinson-Forman, Alex Schwendner, Tim Tennant, and Taylor White captured the first place trophy. (We were more than half the unusually small section!)
- In High School, Jesse Bertron, Dan Johnson, Stephen Logsdon, Meredith Orf, Govind Persad, Dorothy and Evelyn Tadlock, and Matt Tennant were also the first place team in their section, again making up more than half of the section.
Our players also won several individual trophies. In the Primary division, Carson Green tied for second, and Alexander Balkum took sixth. In Elementary, Jonathan Morgan and A.J. Audain tied for first, receiving the third and fifth place trophies respectively, while Ryan Fleisch took 6th. In Middle School, Geeta Persad and Alex Schwendner tied for third, with Geeta taking the third place award and Alex taking fourth. In the High School section, Govind Persad took the third place trophy. (There may be more trophies that I forgot to list.)
Ex-AAHer James Hoyt played in the Open section. Special congratulations to Brittany and Caryn Gay, Tim and Stephanie Mire, Meredith and Mikey Orf, Adrian Robinson, Sianne Smith, Kevin Stager, Madeleine Sullivan, and Taylor White--this was their first tournament. Thanks to Davis Elementary for hosting, and to all the volunteers who helped with the tournament.
Sixteen AAH kids attended the 2000 Texas Scholastic Chess Championships in
Dallas! Everyone had a fun weekend, and three of our teams won
team trophies. (It takes 4 players for a full team, and in the other
sections we did not have enough players for a full team.)
- James Tadlock, Carson Green, Alex Balkum, and Jonathan Morgan were our
representatives in the Primary (K-3) Junior Varsity section. Jonathan tied
for 15th place, while the other 3 three team members each won a medal for
scoring at least 4 points out of 7. Their team won 8th place in the section.
- As our highest rated Primary player, Adrian (A.J.) Audain was our lone
representative in the higher-rated Primary Championship section. He scored
3.5 points out of 7 in this tough section.
- In the Elementary Championship section, we had only one student representing
AAH, Sam Tadlock. We missed his usual teammates!
- In Middle School Junior Varsity section, AAH was represented by a team
consisting of Jason Manasseri, Chelsea Manasseri, and Jesse Bertron. Their
team won 20th place. Kirkland Audain (ex-AAH player who now attends
Murchison Middle School) took the 15th place individual trophy in Middle
School JV with 5 points out of 7.
- In the Middle School Championship section,
our lone representative,Tim Tennant, scored 3 points out of 7.
- In the High School Championship section, Dylan McKinnis and Doug Hardesty
played for the AAH team. Dylan medaled with 4 points, while Doug played only
in the first day of the two-day competition.
- The High School Junior Varsity
team placed 12th, with Dorothy Tadlock, Evelyn Tadlock, and Dan Johnson each
scoring 3 points. Matt Tennant medaled with 4 points.
In a major side event, AAH's Evelyn Tadlock, together with her bughouse
partner, Eric Wiggins, won 1st place in the Bughouse Chess Tournament, with
an undefeated record. This makes Evelyn's team the official 2000 Texas
Scholastic Bughouse Champions!
The tournament was, as usual, chaotic, exciting, stressful, and fun. The
kids had fun hanging out in the AAH team rooms between rounds, doing
postmortem game analysis with Danny Hardesty, eating junk food, and playing
cards and chess. Check out the complete standings, and a photo of Evelyn, on the website of
the Dallas Chess Club.
- In the Primary section, AAH was represented by James Tadlock and Steven King.
- In Elementary, we had Joseph Jehlen, Geeta Persad, and Sam Tadlock; the team won second place despite being a player short of a full team.
- In Middle School, Jesse Bertron, Sara Jehlen, Charles Meeks, Tim Tennant, and Andrew and Marcus Williams took home the first place team trophy.
- In High School, Dan Johnson (returned from Idaho), Dylan McKinnis (back to AAH after spending a year at Griffin School), Govind Persad, Dorothy and Evelyn Tadlock, and Matt Tennant also were the first place team in their section.
AAH players also won a slew of individual awards. The first place Elementary trophy went to Geeta Persad (with a perfect score!). In Middle School, the first place trophy went to Charles Meeks and fourth place went to Tim Tennant. (Charles, Tim and two other players all had had 4 points, but Charles took first on tiebreaks). In the High School section, Govind Persad and Dylan McKinnis took second and third place respectively with 3.5 points each, both losing only to the section winner.
Special congratulations to Jesse Bertron, Steven King, and Marcus Williams, who were all playing in their first tournament. Steven also won a good sportsmanship prize. Thanks as well to all the AAH parents and TDs who helped the tournament run smoothly.

A big thank you to all the TDs, school staff, and AAH parents who helped the tournament run smoothly.

Congratulations to Sophia Dever, Gregory Duyka, Tony Hart, Ashley and Meghan James, Joseph and Sara Jehlen, Sterling Potts, Erin
Murchison, Bair and Baxter Robinson-Forman, and Zachary Shipp. This was the first tournament for all of them.
Club member Geeta Persad, honorary club member Laura Lindzey, and our club coach Brenda Hardesty played in the 1999 Texas Women's Chess Championship. Standings and crosstables are available.
Brenda finished with 3.5 points, tying for first and winning the 1999 Texas Women's Championship trophy! Congrats Brenda! (The other player tying for first was from Washington and thus ineligible.)
Laura had a perfect score going into the last round and could have won the tournament with a win, but it was not to be. She finished tied for second with 3 points, winning $75. Geeta finished tied for fifth with 2 points--not bad for a player seeded seventh in the section!
Meanwhile, your friendly webmaster played in the Futurity section and finished with 2 points, including draws with Class A and Class B players. (OK, well, one was a lucky 'grandmaster draw' in the last round...)
Thanks to Forrest Marler for an excellent TDing job and to Mark McCue for providing the women's prize money (and for his good advice to the webmaster).
This was a very unusual tournament: the first scholastic fixed-roster team tournament ever held in Texas. It was four rounds long, and featured four sections for prize purposes, although it was not divided by age for playing purposes. (1st graders played high school seniors!) Standings and crosstables are available. Three teams featuring at least two AAH players participated:
| Team Name | Board 1 | Board 2 | Board 3 | Board 4 |
| Persad.Singer | Govind Persad | Charles Meeks | Valerie Meeks | Sean Singer |
| Tennant.Logsdon | Tim Tennant | Benjamin Ortiz | Sean Thelen | Stephen Logsdon |
| Rezinsky.Einav | Leonid Rezinsky | Alex Schwendner | Alissa Withrow | John Einav |
Team awards went to Persad-Singer (2.5 points, tied for 4th place U16 team, 5th on tiebreaks) and Tennant-Logsdon (2 points), tied for 3th place U13 team, 4th on tiebreaks). Rezinsky-Einav, also an U13 team, fell short of a trophy; however, their only victory was scored over an U16 team!
Board prizes went to Charles Meeks (3 points, tied for 3rd U16 Board 2, 4th on tiebreaks), Govind Persad (3.5 points, tied for 1st U16 Board 1, 2nd on tiebreaks), Alex Schwendner (3 points, tied for 2rd U13 Board 2, 3rd on tiebreaks) and Tim Tennant (2 points, tied for 3rd U13 Board 1, 5th on tiebreaks).
Geeta Persad, playing as a stand-in on another team, drew 1133-rated Adlai Arandela! Some ex-AAH members also played: Michael Mayfield (4th U10 Board 2), Dylan McKinnis (1st U19 Board 2), and Emily Meeks. Congrats to Stephen Logsdon--this was his first tournament! Thanks to Gary Gaiffe (despite the very delayed awards ceremony :), Brenda and Danny, and all the other TDs and volunteers.
Although it was held in distant Corpus Christi, 15 of our club's players went to this tournament. It had over 1300 players, from all over Texas! Complete standings and crosstables are also available. Note: The standings and crosstables are very large files (>200K)
In the Primary section, AAH was represented by James Tadlock, Carson
Green, and A.J. Audain (Emily Meeks also played; she wasn't on our team
because she is going to school this year, but she is still an honorary
member!). In Elementary, we had Tim Tennant, Sam Tadlock, and Ryan
Fleisch. In Middle School, Doug Hardesty, Charles Meeks, Matt Tennant, Alex
Schwendner, Kirkland Audain, Dorothy Tadlock, and Forrest Green played
for AAH. In High School, Valerie Meeks and Evelyn Tadlock represented
our team (and were possibly the only all-girl team at the tournament!).
Elaine Tennant and Dylan McKinnis (prior AAH team members
who now attend school) also played. We also enjoyed seeing Michael
Mayfield, an ex-AAH player who now plays for WISE homeschool association
in The Woodlands.
Only the Middle School team trophied (13th place), however, as we did not have full teams, thanks partly to the webmaster's case of chicken pox. Doug Hardesty won 5th place overall in the 400-player Middle School section, winning a trophy.
Medallists (players who finished with a better than 50% score) were Charles Meeks and Matt Tennant (Middle School), Ryan Fleisch and Sam Tadlock (Elementary), and A.J. Audain and Carson Green (Primary). Ex-AAH team members Emily Meeks, Dylan McKinnis and Elaine Tennant also received medals, and Michael Mayfield trophied in the Primary
section.
We had an great showing in the Region VI Scholastics (a five-round tournament). 22 of our players showed up, and our Primary team finished in 1st place, our Elementary and Middle School teams finished 2nd, and our High School team finished 3rd. Individual trophies in all sections went 10 deep. Complete standings and crosstables are also available.
- On the Primary team, A.J. Audain (3rd Place; 4 points) and Carson Green (5th Place; 4 points) trophied.
- Elementary team trophy winners were Ryan Fleisch (7th place; 3 points), Geeta Persad (9th place; 3 points) and Sam Tadlock (10th place; 3 points).
- In the Middle School section, Charles Meeks (2nd place; 4 points) trophied; and Doug Hardesty (11th place; 3 points), Bair Carlson (15th place; 3 points), and Matt Tennant (16th place; 3 points) medaled. Medals went to all players who finished tied for 10th or higher but did not receive a trophy due to tiebreaks.
- Finally, on the High School team, Govind Persad (5th place; 3 points) trophied and Valerie Meeks won a Good Sportsmanship medal!
Of our former AAH players, Dylan McKinnis won 3rd place in the High School section, and Emily Meeks won 2nd in the Primary section.
Congratulations to Tony Hart and Chelsea Manasseri--this was the first tournament for both of them! Also, thanks to Austin High School for hosting the tournament, Layne Hendrick, Brenda, Gary, and all the other TDs and staff. Last, but definitely not least, special congratulations to all the AAH parents who helped out with the Results Table, pizza, and other things!
Our club did quite well at Chess Trek IX. 18 of our players participated, and we picked up 1st place team in the Elementary and High School sections and 2nd place team in the Middle School section!
In the Elementary section, Geeta Persad (1st 5th Grade) and Sam Tadlock (1st 4th Grade) picked up trophies. Charles Meeks took 5th overall in the Middle School Section. In the High School section, your friendly webmaster Govind Persad (2nd overall), Sean Singer (1st 9th grade), and Evelyn Tadlock (tied for 1st 10th grade) won prizes.
Special congratulations to Asher Mason and James Tadlock, new Primary team members playing in their first tournament! Some of our ex-members also played in the tournament and did quite well: Dylan McKinnis (playing for Griffin School) fininshed 5th overall in the High School section, losing only to the players who finished first and second; Elaine Tennant (Austin High) took the 11th grade prize despite having to miss two rounds for a soccer game; and Emily Meeks (NYOS) won a prize in the Primary section.
Chess Trek IX was both fun and a great tuneup for the Regionals! Thanks to Gary Gaiffe, Brenda and Danny, the Elks Lodge, and all the other volunteers who helped make it a success.
24 of our club's players went to this tournament, held in Austin. It had over 1000 players, from all over Texas! Some of our players helped out with board setup and cleanup, and a lot of the Chess Club parents volunteered as staff. Complete standings and crosstables are also available.
The Primary team won 11th place, with Ryan Fleisch winning 12th individual and Sam Tadlock medaling. (Medals went to all players who had a positive score but did not get a trophy). The Elementary team won 13th place, with Tim Tennant and Alex Schwendner both winning medals. Alex also won the Good Sportsmanship award! The Middle School team won 11th place, with Govind Persad winning 15th individual and Charles Meeks and Doug Hardesty medaling. The High School team, with just 4 players, finished 21st (one place shy of a trophy) with Dylan McKinnis winning a medal.
We had another big showing in the Region VI Scholastics. Despite the fact that it was held in San Antonio, about 20 of our players showed up at this very big tournament! Congratulations to all of them.
The Primary team won first place, with Ryan Fleisch (1st Place individual), Sam Tadlock (5th Place), Emily Meeks (7th Place) and A.J. Audain (9th Place) the top four scorers. The Elementary team had only two players, but both trophied-- Tim Tennant got 4th place individual, and Geeta Persad took 8th place. The Middle School team won a close first on tiebreaks, with Govind Persad (4th place individual), and Charles Meeks (10th place individual) leading the team.
Thanks to Tafolla Middle School for hosting the tournament (and letting us have our own room :-), Selby Anderson, and all the other TDs and staff.
Our club had a very good showing at Chess Trek V. Altogether 17 players participated and we picked up 1st place team in the Primary, Middle School, and High School sections and 2nd place team in the Elementary section. Also, players from our teams picked up first individual in Primary (Michael Mayfield, a kindergartner!), Middle School (Govind Persad) and High School (Elaine Tennant)!
Other Primary trophies went to Ryan Fleisch (4th Overall) and A.J. Audain (5th Overall). Elementary trophies: Geeta Persad (4th Overall) and Kirkland Audain (5th Overall). Middle School trophies: Doug Hardesty (1st 7th grade). High School trophies: Nick Hillis (1st 9th grade) and Dylan McKinnis (1st 10th grade).
Congratulations to all our players who went to Chess Trek V. It was great fun! Special thanks to the Elks Lodge for hosting, Gary Gaiffe, Brenda Hardesty, and all the other volunteers who helped make the tournament a success.
